My name is Ava Hawks and photography has been a huge interest of mine ever since I was little. I remember stealing my mom’s digital camera that she would use for family vacations and go out on photoshoots with my sisters. Little did I know that it would become such a passion. Even at a young age, I was intrigued by the details of nature and emotion. In high school, I began taking photography classes. The more I learned about this medium of art, the more I fell in love with it. I love all the different lighting and techniques, the different kinds of cameras, experimentation, I wanted to do it all. The advanced placement class I took as a senior was where I really started to realize who I was as a photographer. I want to capture emotion, people, and important moments. 

The human body contains so much emotion, it is not just shown in the face and that is why I love portrait photography. Whether it is taking your family photos or engagement, I want to be there to celebrate you! In my personal projects as a photographer, I also like to express who I am and the things I believe in. I am an advocate for many things such as feminism, equality, and most of all mental health. My mission as a photographer is to capture both the positive and negative emotions of life and encourage others to stand up for what they believe in.
